I am looking for an alternative to Comic Life. The main feature is to make comics out of your photos: Easily create amazing Comics, picture albums and how-to.

Comic Life is a lite and marvelous tool which will allow you to design your own comics stories by managing your photos or drawings.

The application comes with a streamlined interface that permits you to pick one of the available themed templates immediately. These are listed under different categories, such as “How To,” “Creative,” “Education,” and “Life Stories.” Additionally, clean templates are accessible.

Comic Life gives collections of shapes, forms, and lettering with styles suggestive of the best cartoons and comics.

Each can be customized from the style characteristics tab on the right. We also loved the filters, which permits you to give a genuine atmosphere to your photos, like utilizing them into a scene from Sin City. Comic Life also highlights amounts of templates and themes that you can begin with.

• Great for engaging students

  Comic Life 3 is a great app for designing any kind of comic. As a teacher, I have no technical experience with these types of graphics. However, my students think they are reading real comics when I create material this app. If I can use it, anybody can use it.

• It keeps crashing.

  Black Friday deal got me to purchase this app. After installation, it keeps crashing when I add any objects (picture, photos, etc.). Any idea how to fix this???

• An essential tool for family photos

  I have been using Comic Life since when it was free and pre-installed on MACs and have found each version to be better than the last. Better than scrapbooking or photo books, Comic Life brings family photos to life and, when mixed with a little humor and sarcasm, a treasure that will be kept for years. I have done books for my father, friends, and family and given them as gifts and gone to their homes years later to find them still be used as coffee table books, there edges well worn, and the bindings well used. My father actually took his to his retiree get together and showed it off. The interface is simple, easy to use, and when coupled with a basic photo editor, will yield you results you will be proud of! This version is no exception and for a samll upgrade if you don’t have version 3, but have an earlier version, or under $30 for a first time purchase I think you will find it to be a tool that you will use often.

• Even better than I expected

  I tried out a demo version of Comic Life when it first came it out. It seemed to do what it was supposed to do - make it easy to turn photos and other images into comic books - quite well. Unfortunately, that wasn't something I was doing back then. More recently though, I've been experimenting with graphic novels and 3D rendering, so I downloaded Comic Life, version 3. Wow, it is sweet. It can browse your folders or your photo library. You can select all sorts of page layouts. You can drag and drop photos right into the slots and tweak them. You can add text, narrative, dialog, or thought ballons. You can overlay lurid Pow! Bam! comic sounds, or use this feature more tastefully. The interface is pretty straightforward. You can get pretty far without even looking at any documentation, but reading the documentation or browsing the forums helps. There are a few tricks with double clicks - e.g. repositioning images in their frames - and using the option key - e.g. aspect distorting shape changes. I've only used PDF export which works quite well.This isn't a general purpose layout tool like InDesign, QuarkXPress or even Scribus. It's designed and optimized to do one thing really well. Don't buy it and whine about the lack of spreadsheet feature. It is a tool for image based narrative. You can make comic books, document how-to, tell about your summer vacation, tell a family story or just create a cutesy invitation. It looked like a winner when it first came out, and now I can affirm that my first impression was correct. It's great.

• I am inspired!

  I decided to make a comic on my husband’s birthday. Since I’m not even good in editing I was looking for an application thal would make my work much easier. I saw many of them, but this one is the best i have tried - inspiring effects, frames and fonts. It took one evening to make a great story from our photos and everyone at printing service thought i am a professional graphic designer :) Highly recommend Comic Life 3!

  I’ve had so much fun using this app that I thought it was time to review it. I make comic strips from recent news clips. I clip it using either Snapz Pro, or Snagit, and then move a clip into my comic story board. After I collect enough for a good story…I share it with my friends. I’ve never had any problems using it. It would be nice to have a few more options but you really do get a lot from the get go. If you want to have fun making comic strips, this app is a good place to get started making them. I recommend it.
