Rate and Review: This is blank until you’ve downloaded the app that you’d be voting on.
What’s New: This information is important if you have a previous version of this app. Skip this section for now.
Description: This tells you what the app does.
Reviews: This section gets into more details about what people thought of the app beyond the star ranking.
More by Facebook: The app developer in this case is Facebook. If you like the style of a particular developer, this section tells you what other apps that developer offers.
Users Also Installed: Play Store tells you the names of other apps customers downloaded. It’s a good indicator of what else you may like.
Users Also Viewed: Same idea as the previous bullet, but it’s somewhat less of an endorsement. The other users only looked at these other apps. They didn’t necessarily buy them.
Developer: This section gives you contact information for this app’s developer.
Google Play Content: This is how you tell the Play Store whether this app is naughty or nice.
Tap the light blue button that says Install.
Before the download process begins, the Google Play store tells you what this application plans to do on your phone. This information lists all the permissions you will be granting the application when you download it.
This is similar to the license agreements that you sign. Hopefully you read them all in detail and understand all the implications. In practice, you hope that it’s not a problem if lots of other people have accepted these conditions. In the case of a well-known application like Facebook, you’re probably safe, but you should be careful with less-popular apps.
You can allow apps to know where you are on a case-by-case basis. Here is where that issue comes up. Each app asks you for permission to access information, such as your location. You may be able to limit the amount of location information. If you’re not comfortable with that, you should decline the app entirely.

Before the download process starts, your app may want to know two things:
Do you want your phone to automatically update when Facebook (or the app provider) releases a newer version? In general, this is the most convenient option. It’s rare, but not unheard of, that an update makes things worse.
Do you want to wait for the update to take place only when you have a Wi-Fi connection? This prevents your phone from downloading a huge application update over the cellular network. In most cases, using a Wi-Fi connection is a better option.

This process is like downloading apps to your PC over the Internet. The screens show you the progress of downloading and installing the application.
This may happen so fast that you look away for a second and when you look back, it’s done. Sometimes the Play Store lets you shop while the app downloads in the background. If you like, you can watch the process in the notification portion of your screen.
Apps immediately give you the option to either open them or uninstall them. In this case, the Facebook icon appears on the Apps screen along with some other recently added applications.

We reported yesterday that Facebook had killed off its Windows Phone 8.1 apps, but as per AllAboutWindowsPhone reports, the situation is much worse than that.
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser for Windows it turns out, cant handle Facebook’s mobile website, so while you can use the mobile website, much like Twitter, its impossible to actually get much done other than scrolling and posting status updates. You can’t check notifications or messages, nor can you alter settings as those buttons are all unresponsive to the touch.
The folks over at AAWP found a workaround for this that lets you continue using Facebook on the platform, here’s how.
How to use Facebook on Windows Phone 8.1
- Open the Windows Phone Store and search for ‘UC Browser’ or download it directly from this link here.
- Download the app from the Store and run it.
- Navigate to Facebook.com, this should now work as normal, acting as a proper web-app where the earlier Windows Phone 8.1 app and Website on Microsoft’s Internet Explorer failed.
