Al Jazeera which literally means “The Island”, although it refers to the Arabian Peninsula in context, also known as Jazeera Satellite Channel, is a state-funded station in Doha, Qatar, managed by the Al Jazeera Media Network. However, this claim is in dispute as several high profile people have accused Al Jazeera of being a means of propaganda for the government of Qatar. It is sometimes perceived that the network has a predominantly Islamic perspective, which promotes the Muslim Brotherhood and has prejudices in favour of the Sunnis and anti-Shi’ites in its report on regional affairs. Al Jazeera in its defence posited that it covers all sides of a debate; that it presents the vision of Israel, Iran’s point of view as well as the videos broadcast by Osama bin Laden.
